We offer medical care to patients. This includes daily medical care and annual medical check ups including Executive Physicals. Having annual check ups will help in the early detection of diseases that are treatable.
Annual Medical Check ups include:
a. Examination by the doctor
b. ECG, Chest X-ray.
c. Mammogram (for female patients)
d. Blood work to include a complete blood count, kidney and liver
check, diabetes check, prostate cancer check, pancreatic cancer
check, ovarian cancer check, cholesterol check and urinalysis.
e. Patients will be advised to schedule for follow-up visits so all
the results can be discussed in person and any questions that
the patient has can be answered. Please remember that no
question is stupid.
Most of the stress tests done in the West African sub-region is “stress
tests by treadmill” which is associated with a lot of false positive
results. Patients are therefore advised to have coronary
angiograms (cardiac catheterizations) unnecessarily which cost a
lot of money both locally and abroad. Chemical Stress tests uses
radioactive tracers and an E-Cam nuclear camera to diagnose heart artery blockages (coronary artery disease) and is much more accurate. So patients that end up needing to be recommended for cardiac catheterizations actually need it.
Caasi Medical and Diagnostic Center is proud to have a state of the art E-CAM SPECT AND WHOLE-BODY DUAL HEADED NUCLEAR CAMERA that can detect cancers in its very early stages through out the body. Molecular Imaging specialized tracers when injected into the body will be absorbed by areas of high metabolic activity (Cancers) and aid the physician in localizing and treating various cancers. We believe that early detection of cancers saves lives.
Breast Cancer occurrence is increasing in Ghana and in the West African sub-region. It is recommended that yearly mammograms are started at the age of 45 years for females. There is a big difference in life expectancy if breast cancers are diagnosed early compared to those diagnosed late.
Caasi Medical and Diagnostic Center will organize breast cancer prevention events twice a year where mammograms will be offered to patients at discounted rates to encourage the population to do their mammograms. We have a 2D Digital Mammogram machine at the facility. For those with positive mammograms we also offer ultrasound guided breast biopsies on site.
Using state of the art ultrasonographic equipment with advanced configuration at our facility, various disease processes can be diagnosed early.
a. Carotid Ultrasound is an integral part of stroke prevention.
Early diagnosis of significant blockages in the carotid arteries
is important in embolic stroke prevention.
b. Aortic Aneurysms are essentially difficult to diagnose.
Through ultrasonography, aortic aneurysms can be easily
diagnosed and with change in lifestyle habits, medications and
eventually surgery this problem can be rectified.
c. Echocardiograms are essentially ultrasound of the heart to
determine enlargement of the heart muscle and also leaks in
the heart valves. The severity of heart valve leaks and heart muscle enlargement is important in tailoring medical treatment to ameliorate these conditions. Heart ultrasounds also helps in making decisions regarding early heart valve surgery to prevent irreversible damage.
d. Prostate and Breast Biopsies are done as an in-office procedure using ultrasonography. If a patient has an abnormal prostate blood test or an abnormal mammogram, a biopsy is undertaken in the office with ultrasound guidance. Our state of the art ultrasound machine allows qualified urologists or breast surgeons undertake this procedure with minimum ease.
Caasi Medical and Diagnostics Center recommends yearly electrical tracing of the heart (also called ECG or electrocardiogram). This is done during the annual check ups. The stress test computer program allows this procedure to be done. Electrocardiograms allow for diagnosis of abnormal rhythms of the heart which may eventually cause strokes. For some patients who do not have annual electrocardiograms, abnormal heart rhythms are diagnosed at the time when they have had a stroke, which is already too late.
Electrocardiograms may also be the first alert in finding out if a patient has the potential of getting a heart attack or enlarged heart muscle wall.
